Dear Ms. Matter:

Aren’t you glad your parents didn’t name you Whatsa?  Anyhow, I am writing to advise you of the publication of a fascinating new book about the Southwest – The Unwritten History of An Unforgiving Land. I’ve just published this book myself . And as exciting as the book is, the plan I developed to sell it is even more exciting. And that’s where you come in.  I thought I’d start writing letters to people and ask them to ask their friends to buy the book.  You see, I am bringing the concept of multi-level marketing to the book world. Not only are books good for people, there are fortunes to be made if you get in on the ground floor.

First, a little about the book. So that you can sell it. Did you know that Billy the Kid was a woman? That the Indians had trains before the Spanish arrived? That people who got hanged were required to be dead 48 hours before the hanging and that squirrels were sewn into their pants legs to make them “dance.”

Or that the Grand Canyon was a prehistoric irrigation canal used by millions of people who had a computer-based civilization in the Imperial Valley of California? Well, now you know.

Here’s the deal: You buy the book for $89.  Then you get a dozen other people to buy the book for $89. For each book they buy, you get $20. That’s $240. They each get a dozen people to buy the book for $89 and you get $15 from each of those books. Then, the next level brings you $10 per book…the next – $5.

By that time, you have made $226,000. Pretty good, huh?

Now, a lot of people will say $89 is a lot for a book. Sure, but when that $89 brings in $226,000, it doesn’t seem like all that much. And that’s what every one will realize when you bring them into the program. We had to price the book that high so there was enough money to pay for the levels. Got it? Great.

Just drop a check in the mail for $89. I’ll send you the book and you can start calling people up or sending them letters or whatever you think would be best. They’ll thank you for it when THEY are thousands of dollars richer.

Sincerely,

Marian Woobster
